The King of Tattooists
George Burchett
Born in 1872 in England, George Burchett is also known as ‘King of Tattooists’. He earned this title on account of his dedication to tattoo artwork. He started his tattoo journey at a very young age and had opted it as a career in 1900. He had made tattoosamous studios in for various prominent figures of that era including artists, kings, sailors and travelers eg; Horace Ridler, King Alfonso XIII of Spain and King Frederik IX of Denmark. He had established his tattoo parlor at Waterloo Road in London. His tattoo work included various designs categories like animals, portrays, nature, Japanese and African motifs etc. Probably he was the first in the history who started using a pencil like machine for tattooing.
